Dental inlays and onlays (indirect fillings), accommodate teeth that don’t have enough original structure to support traditional fillings. However, the damage to teeth is not to the point of needing full crowns.
- Dental inlays are similar to fillings, but lay on top of the chewing surface of the tooth within the cusps (bumps).
- Dental onlays (partial crowns) are more extensive than inlays and can cover one or more cusps on the tooth.
Traditionally, an impression of your teeth is taken and the inlay or onlay is made in a special laboratory. But, with our same-day dentistry system, we make durable porcelain inlays and onlays right in our office while you wait. Temporary fillings and follow up appointments are a thing of the past.
